A Nepali team of nine women, Everest Women Seven Summits Eco–Action (EWSSE-A), successfully climbed the highest peak Mt Kosciuszko/Targangil (2228 meters) in the Australian continent. In a press meet organized at Nepal Tourism Board Office on July 28, Wednesday Shailee Basnet co-coordinator of EWSSE-A made a presentation to brief the media about their successful mountain climbing attempt in Australia. The team who had successfully climbed the mountain included Asha Kumari Singh, Chunu Shrestha, Maya Gurung, Ngabhang Phuti Sherpa, Nimdoma Sherpa, Pema Diki Sherpa, Pujan Acharya, Shailee Basnet and Usha Bista. They had left for Australia on June 28. The project was supported by the Government of Nepal, Nepal Mountaineering Association, Nepal Airlines Corporation, The North Face, The Crossing Land Education Trust(Australia), Outdoor Education Group(Australia), and the ‘Be Vegan, Go Green-Save the Planet’ campaign, Supreme Master TV, ICIMOD, Non-Residential Nepalis, Nari Nikunja and Nepal Tourism Board.
